Sound Healing uses the power of sound and vibration to assist in inducing a deep state of relaxation and balance body, mind and spirit.
Everything around us and all parts of our bodies vibrate at a certain frequency.
When we are at balance, all parts vibrate in harmony and in a natural state. When we are stressed out, we have an out of balance body.
In the fast and hectic world we live in, it’s easy to get exhausted, lost and frustrated.
We often suppress our emotions and stop expressing our real feeling. This creates negative thoughts and blockages within the body.
As we are deeply connected to Earth rhythms and cycles, loss of this connection can lead spiritual illnesses sometimes diseases and an out of balance body.
The sound is one of the most powerful healing tool that helps break up tension and emotions in the body.
When the brain waves and body are synchronized and harmonized, tension can be released and balance restored.
The principle of resonance and entrainment are the main components in the sound healing process. Let’s take a step back and explain what sound is.
Sound is formed of waves, which are measured in hertz, cycles per second. Each cycle it is recognized as a pulse of sound.
Resonance is the frequency which an object vibrates.
In sound Healing we experience the Resonance with Tuning forks for example. When one ‘C’ tuning fork is struck and placed next to another ‘C’ tuning fork, the second tuning fork will begin to resonate together with the first tuning fork. It is the intensification and prolongation of sound produced by sympathetic vibration.
Through the principle of resonance, it is possible to use sound to bring the body back into harmony.
Entrainment is another phenomenon of sound in which the vibrations of one object will cause the less powerful vibrations of another object to change and oscillate at the same rate of the first object.
Entrainment is closely related to rhythm.
We encounter the Entrainment phenomenon in nature in many occasions. When muscle cells from the heart move closer to each other, suddenly start synchronizing and pulsing together. Or it can happen in everyday relationship, or women living together having menstrual cycles at the same time.
Entrainment can be used to restore body functions. If a person is out of balance and receive harmonies sounds session, his/her body will lock into the powerful healing sound.
So with resonance we will have natural vibrations of an object with its own vibrations, while in entrainment the natural oscillatory pattern modifies to “synchronize” with the most powerful one.
Using music and sound in healing has been proven to help to create a deep sense of peace and to reduce pain and stress.
Sound healers will use chanting and toning to create profound transformation in the body and mind.
This revitalizing process will occur not only spiritual and emotional level, but also in a physical one: the metabolism will decrease, the heart rate will slow down, the respiratory rate will decrease and the brain waves will be in a state of relaxation (ALPHA).
Using sound to assist with healing and relaxation has been used since the ancient time, for thousands of years by many different cultures. Music was believed to have therapeutic benefits.
Primitive man used to sing and play percussive instruments to invoke his Gods, celebrate rites or tell stories.
The Greek used the Lyre for therapy and to facilitate meditation.
In many religious rituals, singing, chanting and playing, was considering a route to spiritual development and connection with the Divine, as in the Gregorian chants, in the Native American cultures, in the African chants, in the Jewish liturgical music, in the Buddhist chants, in the Indians mantras and much more.
Sound Healing is good for anyone wishing consciously to relax, removes blockages, improve life and be peaceful.
